Newlyn kept their position at the top of the East Cornwall Premier League with an emphatic four goals at Victoria Bottoms to defeat last season's Duchy League champions and current Junior Cup holders.
The Saints got off to a perfect start when a through ball found Ross London who held of two defenders before slotting home from the edge of the penalty area after just six minutes. This fired the home side in to life and they started trying to put Newlyn's defence under pressure with long balls for their forwards to try and chase down but the visitors central defenders of James Turpie and Sam Eglinton were always in control.
Newlyn captain Jack Thompson was alert to intercept a quick Nanpean free-kick on the half way line and he fired a long range shot from fully 50 yards that flew into the back of the net for one of the goals of the season on 38 minutes. This was quickly followed with Newlyn's third when Ben Lawrence cut inside from the left wing and curled a sublime shot over the stranded home keeper.
On the hour mark a sweeping Newlyn move down the right wing saw full-back Dan Ball curl a pinpoint cross into the area that was met by Jackson Rochford who smashed an unstoppable volley in to the roof of the net for Newlyn's fourth of the day.
Newlyn's lack of recent regular games started to take it's toll with players having to come off due to cramp and numerous substitutions followed that disrupted their flow and allowed Nanpean to score a late consolation goal through Martyn O'Callaghan.
The win on the win on the road was thoroughly deserved for The Saints but with no game next Saturday the now have to wait two weeks before travelling to North Petherwin.
