St Newlyn East were unable to break down a resilient rear guard action of a determined Foxhole side. Returning to Cargoll Road for their first competitive game this season Newly were unable to capitalise on their opening day win at St Dominick.
Newlyn started brightly and their neat passing was soon causing the visitors problems however, despite their prolonged periods of possession, they were unable to register a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes. Brodie Mitchell will feel he should have scored when presented with an invite to shoot following a mistake by the Foxhole goalkeeper but his shot missed its target.
The second half continued in much the same vein as the first - Newlyn keeping possession but unable to breakdown the Foxhole defence. Substitute Elliot Powell went close but his shot was well saved. Foxhole's chances were few but their rare attacks were thwarted by the excellent Jamie Seery - playing through the pain barrier because of an ankle injury - at the heart of Newlyn's defence.
Unfortunately with both sides now pressing for a late winner referee Steve Tootle decided that the light was not sufficient for the game to continue and he brought the game to a premature end on 80 minutes due to his concerns for the players safety in the poor light.
